Khedut Akasmat Vima Yojana: Many schemes are run by the Department of Agriculture and Co-operation, Government of Gujarat for the benefit of farmers. Subsidies are also given on Gujarat Government Schemes For Farmers such as Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sanman Nidhi Yojana, Tractor Assistance Scheme and purchase of equipment. But the government is also constantly concerned to protect the lives of farmers. The Khedut Vima Yojana was enacted on January 26, 1996 to provide insurance cover to farmers in case of accidental death or permanent disability.
Khedut Akasmat Vima Yojana
The Gujarat Government has implemented an account holder farmer insurance scheme to protect the lives of farmers. The scheme is 100% managed by the state government. In this scheme the sum insured of all the farmer account holders of the state is paid by the State Government. In the state of Gujarat, from 01/04/2008, this insurance scheme is managed under “Gujarat Collective Group Accident Insurance Scheme”. The office of the Director of Insurance is located at Gandhinagar.
Khedut Akasmat Vima Yojana Purpose
Farmers’ lives are full of struggles. If he dies accidentally while working on the farm day and night, an accidental tragedy befalls his family. Financial assistance is provided by the state government to co-operate in such tragic situations. In case of death or permanent disability of the account holder farmer, direct financial assistance is given to his heirs under group insurance scheme.
Khedut Akasmat Vima Yojana Required Documents
Document has been fixed for the farmer insurance scheme run by Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. All these documents have been decided by Juth Vima Yojana of Gujarat. Which are as follows.
- Application in prescribed form for accidental death / permanent disability insurance assistance
- 7/12, 8-A and Village Sample No.-6 (Certificate of Deed) (Certified extract after date of death)
- PM (Post Mortem Report)
- F.I.R / Punchnama Report / Police Inspector or Court Order
- Certificate of deceased account holder
- Proof of age
- Report on case approval by subdivisional magistrate
- Medical board in case of permanent complete disability
- Certificate showing the final assessment of the Civil Surgeon
- Postcard size photograph showing disability
- If the deceased farmer was driving at the time of the accident, his valid driving license
- Warranty sheet
- Genealogy
- Original pedigree in case of heir (in case of spouse)
Who gets the benefit of Khedut Akasmat Vima Yojana?
Rules and eligibility are determined by Juth Vima Yojana to take advantage of this scheme, which is as per ugly.
- All the account holders holding individual or joint land of Gujarat are eligible to meet the heirs of the farmers.
- The account holder will be eligible to meet the offspring (son / daughter) of the farmer.
The benefit of this scheme is available in case of accidental death of the account holder farmer spouse or permanent disability. - The benefit of this scheme is available to the heirs of the account holder farmer between the ages of 5 to 70 years.
- The application has to be submitted to the office of the concerned District Agriculture Officer within 150 days.
New Act-Standard of Khedut Akasmat Vima Yojana
With the new amendment resolution dated 13/11/2018 by Krushi ane Kalyan Sahkar Vibhag of Gujarat, the following insurance assistance is available to the beneficiary.
- Account holder will get assistance up to Rs. 2.00 lakhs at the rate of 100% in case of death or permanent disability of the farmer.
- The farmer will get help if he loses a body part due to an accident. In case of loss of two eyes, two limbs, arms and legs and in case of loss of one eye and one limb, Rs.
- In case of 100% complete vision loss in case of eye, above the wrist in case of hand and above the knee in case of foot, assistance of Rs. 2.00 lakh will be available under this scheme.
- In case of loss of one eye or one limb due to accident of the account holder farmer, Rs. 1.00 lakh will be recoverable at 50%.
How to avail benefits of Khedut Akasmat Vima Yojana ?
The benefit of this scheme is available in case of accidental death of a farmer in Gujarat and in case of permanent disability during the accident. The account holder has to apply in the prescribed form by the farmer. The heir of the farmer account holder will have to apply along with all the required proofs, papers. This application must be made by the District Agriculture Officer, District Panchayat within 150 days from the date of death. Applications received 150 days after the death of the farmer will not be considered valid.

New additions to Khedut Akasmat Vima Yojana
The insurance plans of various departments have been consolidated by the resolution dated 25/06/2007 by the Finance Department of the Government of Gujarat. These consolidated plans are known as group accident insurance plans. This also includes farmer accident insurance scheme. The scheme is being implemented through the Director of Insurance, Gandhinagar from 01/04/2008. All general resolutions have been issued on 01-04-2013 by amending all the resolutions of the finance department.
In addition to the account holder farmer, the first surviving child (son / daughter) of the account holder farmer has been included in the account holder farmer accident insurance scheme by the Government of Gujarat from 01/04/2012. And from 01/04/2016 the husband / wife of the account holder farmer was also included.
The resolution of the Department of Agriculture, Farmer Welfare and Co-operation dated 13/11/2018 has been amended. The farmer accident insurance scheme has come to increase the assistance standard. It is decided to give benefit to any child (son / daughter) instead of the first surviving child of the account holder farmer. As well as those who have been certified in the revenue record by the date of accidental death or permanent disability. All such account holders will be given the benefit of this scheme.
