10 Greatest Underwater Wonders in the World

08. Green Lake (Austria)

Green Lake, known as “Gruner See” in German, is a picturesque lake located in Styria, Austria. What makes Green Lake remarkable is its seasonal transformation that occurs each year during the spring and early summer. During this period, the lake experiences a substantial increase in water levels due to the melting snow from the surrounding Hochschwab Mountains. As a result, the park surrounding the lake becomes submerged, creating a stunning underwater landscape.

Green Lake is relatively shallow, and during the winter months, it typically has a depth of about 1-2 meters (3-7 feet). However, in the spring, when the snow melts, the lake’s water level can rise dramatically, reaching depths of up to 10 meters (33 feet) or more.
