The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana has been included in the public health schemes by the Government of Gujarat. Improves health and serious illnesses for the people living in the state of Gujarat and many other ailments which have been covered under this scheme. Up to 5 lakh such diseases are treated free of cost.

Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is a scheme for people living in Gujarat and living below the poverty line declared by the government. Poor people living in urban area, municipality, corporation area will get the benefit of this scheme. The government will bear the cost of treatment up to Rs 5 lakh for the diseases mentioned in the scheme.
Who will get the benefit ?
The scheme has been implemented for the families living below the poverty line in rural as well as urban areas of the state. Under the Vatsalya scheme, a maximum of 5 family members with an income of less than Rs 4 lakh and less than Rs 6 lakh for a senior citizen can benefit. Inclusion of rural and urban divisions registered under Social, Economic and Caste Based Survey 2011 under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. All members will benefit without any limitation in the definition of family.

Institutions where related services are available in government as well as registered private hospitals under this scheme.
Method for availing the benefits of the scheme
1. First of all the name of the beneficiary and the names of their family members should be in the list of Social, Economic and Gender Based Survey 2011 with prescribed criteria.
2. Beneficiary has to take his Aadhaar card, e-card, Maa card or Maa Vatsalya card and his ration card to CHC or the hospital associated with the scheme.
3. At the hospital level, the said document has to be shown to the Prime Minister’s Health Friend.
4. Once verified, the beneficiary will be able to get free treatment at the hospital attached to the scheme
Assistance / benefits under the scheme:
1. Free treatment health insurance cover in government as well as private hospitals registered under treatment scheme up to Rs 5 lakh per annum
2. Under this scheme, primary, secondary and serious diseases like eye diseases, nose, ear and throat diseases, gynecology, mental illness, heart disease, kidney diseases, brain diseases, serious injuries, serious diseases affecting newborns, cancer, knee and replacement etc. Free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh is provided.
Thus, this scheme is very beneficial for the physical and mental health of the people living in the state of Gujarat and falling below the poverty line. With the advent of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jaan Arogya Yojana, the number of people dying from cancer, kidney disease and other serious diseases in Gujarat has come down significantly.
